Depression
Hi Michel,
I believe I know what you mean. You’re still seeing people, but all contact seems to be
superficial. I have the same thing, at work or in the gym. I do talk to people, but I
cannot talk about how I feel. And I think it’s my own behaviour. I keep my distance,
and as soon as some deeper contact is established, I pull back, afraid of what…[Read more] -

In reply to: Katie posted an update in the group Depression & Anxiety Hi. I have an appointment for tomorrow to see a therapist for the first time. I’m just really scared and nervous. I don’t know how to talk about my what I […] ViewHi Katie,
as you can imagine, the therapist is going to ask you questions to figure out what is going on.
So, be prepared and write down the issues you want to discuss. If you’re nervous, you tend
to forget things. And yes, you’ll have to tell some of the things you don’t want anyone to know.
But, give it time, this is only the first appointment,…[Read more] -

Peter replied to the topic New Therapist in the forum Q&A for Videos
Hi -,
I’m no expert, but I think you should use this as a moment of reflection.
Where were you when you started with your old therapist? And where are
you now? It’s only going to be a step backwards if you make it that.
See it as a challenge. Make it a leap forward. Take care! -

Hi Leanne,
I hope Spring itself makes it a bit easier for you. It’s less dark, the sun shines more often.
You can spend more time outdoors. That should really help you a bit. Take care! -

I’m no expert, but maybe you can write down in advance what it is you want to tell
your doctor. Of course, this doctor might going to ask some questions, but if you
have prepared this visit, it is going to be easier for you to face it once it’s there.
Do you have someone who can come with you to your appointment and is willing
to wait…[Read more] -

My therapist suggested I take part in a mindfulness course. 16 weeks, one and a half hour per week, and one hour meditation a day. That’s pretty intensive, it seems. But will it help me to ruminate less and become more positive?

Peter replied to the topic Inappropriate therapist or overly sensitive pairing??? in the forum Q&A for Videos
Hi Baxter,
I’m no expert, but I think it’s safe to bring it up to your new therapist.
I’m only assuming your old therapist had your best interest in mind, and
complimented you to make you see a different truth about yourself. And
that can certainly make you feel very uncomfortable. But that is all part
of the process, I think. I hope you will be…[Read more] -

I had a session with my therapist today. She asked me to visualize my fears, as
something that is on the table in front of me, instead of something in my head.
I find that very hard. It’s been in my head for so long, it’s not like a detachable
something. I believe I understand what she wants, but it’s hard to do. -

Peter replied to the topic Tough Question in the forum Q&A for Videos
Hi Leanne,
I’m no expert, but I think a testimony is not necessarily about answers,
but how you handle the questions. You are studying at college to learn,
to get answers, how can you expect that in other areas like religion
and your beliefs you’ve got those answers already? So if you cannot
answer this tough question your leader asked you, maybe…[Read more] -

Of course you want to be a good friend and not spoil the party for anyone.
But you must think of yourself as well. So maybe you should just tell your friend
that you will be at her party, but that you might leave early once you feel you need
to. And make sure you’re not going back home alone, make arrangements for
someone to pick you…[Read more] -

Hi Kristina,
I know what you mean. I’m working 40 hours a week too, and in the evening
I just don’t have any energy left to do anything. I manage to go to the
gym in the weekend, though, but I should go more often. What I have been
trying lately, is to play the replay of the early morning TV workout in
the evening. That makes me move for 15…[Read more] -

Don’t be afraid to mention what’s bothering you. It seems that you still know yourself
where you may have crossed a line with healthy eating or not eating. Use that knowledge
to make better choices next time. Only if you readlly don’t manage anymore to choose
the better options, it might turn into an ED. Take care! -

PTSD
Hi Dust,
Night dreads is maybe the term you’re looking for? Fears that during the day
seem manageable sometimes make you wake up at night. Some people say you
should write down your worries at night, so that they won’t worry you
during your sleep. But maybe you are just having bad dreams. Take care! -

Peter replied to the topic Homesickness in the forum Q&A for Videos
Hi Leanne,
I think it’s good you talked about it with someone. I don’t have a strong experience with
homesickness myself, but I do have the need to make new places my own before I feel
comfortable. So I bring some familiar items with me, and that can just be anything I feel
attached to. But I also need to discover my new surroundings. So if you…[Read more] -

Hi Wesley,
I’m sorry to hear you’re not doing well. Are you sure your friends are giving
up on you? Try to take the initiative, and don’t give up. I don’t know what job you

Thanks for the advice! I talked to my friend and although the usual plan is to stay for the night, if things start getting bad, I’ll call my parents and leave early; I’ve planned the day before that with some alone time and I hope this helps – if I’m in an okay-ish place to begin with, maybe everything will be fine.
